Rainier 2008 - Photos

Alpine Endeavors was awarded one of the twelve new "one time climb permits" from Mount Rainier National Park, and below are some pictures from our 2008 trip.

About 15 minutes above Camp Sherman, we arrived at Emmons Flats - our home for the next few days. Here, we have to dig out level spots to set up our tents.

With the temperatures being as warm as they were, our plan was to leave by 11pm - 11:30pm to maximize the cold temps and have us back in camp in the early morning. Here Richard is getting ready -around 10:30pm.

So far, we have been climbing for about 5 hours - it is now about 4:30am on August 5, 2008. Dawn is approaching, we have reached the col with Liberty Cap and are heading up the final section to the summit.

The Summit! We arrived at 06:17am; it took us 6:55 minutes from camp.

From the summit, we looked into the crater - notice the large group of people in the center/right, along the shadow line. They came up from the Disappointment Cleaver route on the other side of the mountain.

The permit limits us to a maximum of five people (guides and climbers), so we had three guests and two guides participate in the climb.
